We broke it down verse by verse and examined it further!
Revelation 20 describes the ultimate defeat of Satan, a 1,000-year reign of Christ (the Millennium), and the final judgment. It details the devil being bound in the abyss, martyred believers ruling with Christ, a final rebellion, and the Great White Throne Judgment where the wicked and death itself are cast into the lake of fire.
The chapter outlines four main events:
Satan Bound (vv. 1–3):An angel binds Satan with a chain and locks him in the abyss (or bottomless pit) for a thousand years so he can no longer deceive the nations.
The 1,000-Year Reign (vv. 4–6):The souls of those who were martyred for their faith in Jesus and refused to worship "the beast" come to life and reign with Christ. This is called the "first resurrection"
The Final Battle (vv. 7–10):After the 1,000 years, Satan is released. He gathers a vast army from the "four corners of the earth," referred to as Gog and Magog, to attack God's people. However, fire comes down from heaven and consumes them, and Satan is finally cast into the lake of fire and sulfur to be tormented forever.
The Great White Throne Judgment (vv. 11–15):The dead—both great and small—are resurrected to stand before God. Books are opened, including the "Book of Life," and everyone is judged based on what they have done. Anyone whose name is not found in the Book of Life, along with Death and Hades, is thrown into the lake of fire, which is the "second death".
