Pastor's Sermon
We are seeing much deception in this hour. Many shall come in Jesus' name and deceive many (Matt 24). God is telling us to be not troubled. Our soul, emotions, etc....do not be troubled. During this time many will hate you and many shall be divided in homes. Iniquity shall abound and the love of many shall wax cold. Wickedness shall abound. We do not want to be on the many list. We must try to keep a clear and sober mind - taking heed that our love won't wax cold. God is love. We have His spirit. We have to endure to the end. Suffering is optional. We must know that it's a battle to the end.
Luke 17:1 - It is impossible that offenses won't come.
Luke 17:1 states that "Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come!". It is a warning from Jesus to his disciples to be on guard against causing others to stumble in their faith.
-
Meaning:
Jesus is explaining that it is inevitable that people will be tempted to sin. However, the person who is the cause of someone else's sin will face a severe consequence.
-
Context:
-
The verse is the beginning of a passage in Luke chapter 17 where Jesus instructs his disciples on a variety of topics, including avoiding causing others to sin, the importance of rebuking and forgiving, the power of faith, and humble service
Jesus doesn't say much about the people who offend us - rather He talks to us about handling that offense. What do we do with it? It is easy for us to justify all manner of self-destructive behavior from the fact that we have been offended. These rules for peace and happiness, we must accept Jesus' words about how to handle offense. Avenge not yourselves, let God get revenge. The determination to punish is from the one who judges. God is the only judge. You must surrender the right to judge.

BACK TO SERMON
How to get out of the pain? We are accepted by Jesus. We are IN HIM. Look to the word of God for the answers. The answers to our dillemas is IN HIM. Emotional pain comes from the pain from the world. If you don't deal with it, it will continue til the end. Life becomes a series of reoccuring pain. We need to live in a place free of fear and pain.
Do not judge. In the same way you judge others, you will be judged. The same measurement to you. Give and it shall be given unto you. Most people think it may be financial only. However, Jesus presents this as your heart. How you treat others is how you will be treated. Be merciful as your Father is merciful.
