TPUSA Selling red wristbands and spoke about the similarities to the red Kaballah bracelet.
Wearing a thinscarletor acrimson string(Hebrew: חוט השני,khutt hashani) as a type oftalismanis aJewishfolk custom which is practiced as a way to ward off misfortune which is brought about by the "evil eye" (Hebrew: עין הרע). The tradition is popularly thought to be associated withKabbalahand religious forms ofJudaism.
The red string itself is usually made from thinscarletwoolthread. It is worn as abraceletor band on thewristof the wearer. The red string was worn in many cultures and not founded solely in Jewish culture. Hinduism and Chinese culture has also worn this red string or bracelet for luck, love and to ward off evil.
As a pastor, I oppose political violence. I believe Charlie Kirk should be alive today. I therefore mourn his death and the state of our country that caused it to happen. Erika Kirk’s display of forgiveness rather than retribution and her call to love rather than hate was the most profound and important moment of the service.
As a pastor, I also oppose the blatant display of Christian nationalism at his memorial service by those in political power. The Christ presented there by them was not the Jesus of the gospels, but the figure used to masquerade as Jesus for the sake of justifying the pursuit of power and wealth by any means possible.
I say by any means possible because as was shown today, not even someone’s death is treated as sacred by those in political power. It’s treated as yet another opportunity to justify pursuing power and dominion in the name of Jesus. It’s another opportunity to fuse supporting only one political party and only certain politicians with being a “true Christian.” It is another opportunity for the current president to justify hating his enemies rather than loving them as Jesus called us to. It’s another opportunity uphold domination rather than the gospel of Jesus.
It was treated as a rally, not a memorial service.
So, as a pastor, I mourn Charlie Kirk’s death with those who are mourning today. I also oppose the narrative that his legacy and death is being used to uphold the name of Jesus, especially by those in political power.
It isn’t. It’s upholding Christian Nationalism and Christian nationalism has nothing to do with Jesus.
The entire world has reached atrueturning point in history with the cold-blooded murder of Charlie Kirk.Shabbat, marriage, fighting for the truth – we must continue his legacy!
The wars in Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan will hang over the annual gathering of the U.N. General Assembly next week in New York. So, too, will budget and identity crises.
According to an article published by the Washington Post on Monday, Sept. 15, four anonymous sources said the removal orders are linked to Trump’s March 27 executive order called “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” This order directs the Interior Department “to eliminate information that reflects a ‘corrosive ideology’ that disparages historic Americans.”
The phrase "corrosive ideology" has been used in a highly politicized context by the Trump administration to describe certain interpretations of American history and values. Generally, a "corrosive ideology" refers to a system of beliefs that is perceived to be harmful, destructive, or divisive to a society or its institutions.
The Trump administration's use of the term
Since at least March 2025, the Trump administration has repeatedly used the phrase in official communications and executive orders to criticize what it describes as a "factually baseless ideology aimed at diminishing American achievement".
Key aspects of this specific usage include:
Targeting of historical interpretations: The administration has explicitly flagged historical exhibits at federal institutions, including the Smithsonian and National Parks, for review.
Rewriting history: The White House has accused the "prior administration" (referring to the Biden administration) of promoting a "divisive ideology that reconstrued America's promotion of liberty as fundamentally flawed".
Specific examples cited: Examples targeted as "corrosive" include exhibitions that discuss slavery at the President's House Site in Philadelphia and displays acknowledging racial power dynamics in American history.
Resulting actions: The administration has ordered the removal of specific exhibits and materials deemed to be "corrosive ideology," including a famous photograph of an enslaved man's scarred back.
Interpretations and criticism
Commentators and critics have offered different interpretations of the administration's use of the phrase:
Political erasure: Critics argue that the administration is using the phrase to justify whitewashing history and removing inconvenient truths about America's past, particularly concerning race and slavery.
Politicization of institutions: Others express concern that the administration is forcing ideological conformity on respected institutions like the Smithsonian, compromising their mission of presenting a complete and complex history.
Racialized narrative: Some interpretations suggest that the use of "corrosive ideology" is part of a broader racialized framework that seeks to dismiss or minimize the historical experiences of Black Americans.
Broader, non-political context
Outside of this specific political controversy, the term "corrosive" can describe any ideology with qualities of being harmful or destructive. In this sense, a corrosive ideology might be one that:
Deepens societal divisions: Promotes tribalism or an "us versus them" mentality based on identity.
Distorts reality: Replaces objective facts with a narrative that is inflexible and unsuited to reality, often with dangerous or deadly consequences.
Generates destructive conflict: Elevates disagreements to the level of perceived threat, leading to adversarial or violent actions.
