In 2024, Melania Trump headlined two fundraisers for the Log Cabin Republicans, the largest conservative LGBTQ+ organization in the U.S. She was paid a speaking fee for at least one of these events. 

April 2024 fundraiser

• Location: The event was held at the Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

• Purpose: The fundraiser launched a "Road to Victory" initiative to mobilize conservative gay and lesbian support for Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.

• Controversy: Following the event, it was revealed that Melania Trump was paid $237,500 for the "speaking engagement". The source of the payment has been called into question by ethics experts and others in the media. 

July 2024 fundraiser

• Location: A second fundraiser for the group was hosted in Melania Trump's residence at Trump Tower in New York.

• Funds Raised: This event reportedly raised $1.4 million for the Log Cabin Republicans.

• Compensation: It was unclear if Melania Trump received an additional speaking fee for this event, as the financial disclosures for that period were not immediately released. 

Critics' response

Melania Trump's fundraising efforts drew sharp criticism from many in the LGBTQ+ community and other progressive groups. Critics pointed to former President Donald Trump's anti-LGBTQ+ record while in office, which included a ban on transgender people serving in the military.
