Acts 4
Book of Acts Episode 4 - Acts 4

Acts chapter 4 means the early church faced its first arrest, boldly proclaimed Jesus as the only way to be saved, and shared everything as one united community. It continues the story from Acts 3 after Peter and John heal a man who could not walk.

Arrest and Courage

  • The Arrest: Religious leaders (the Sadducees and the Sanhedrin) arrest Peter and John for teaching about Jesus and the resurrection.

  • The Defense: Peter speaks with great courage, saying the disabled man was healed by the name of Jesus Christ, whom the leaders crucified but God raised.

  • The Key Verse: Acts 4:12 states that salvation is found in no one else, because no other name under heaven is given to save people.

  • The Release: The leaders warn them to stop speaking about Jesus, but Peter and John reply that they must talk about what they have seen and heard.

Prayer and Unity

  • The Prayer for Boldness: Peter and John return to the other believers. They pray together for strength and courage to keep sharing God's message.

  • The Shaking Place: God answers their prayer by shaking the place where they meet, and they are filled with the Holy Spirit.

  • Sharing Everything: The believers live in complete unity. No one claims that their possessions are only their own; they share everything so that no person in their group is in need. Barnabas is highlighted for selling a field and giving the money to the apostles
