For our God is Jealous for His Bride

Pastor talks about how God is jealous for us.

Matthew 6: 9 - After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Hallowed means to reverence Him. Be in awe of Him.  Pastor talks about the reflection he's taken this week to hallow the Lord's name!  He talks about how a husband is jealous for his wife. There is a good jealousy that is like God. He is jealous for our attention and affection. If we show that to another (a king, nation, etc) and not to Him...then He is jealous for her.

The root of jealousy is insecurity, fear, etc.  Each situation is different where the spirit of jealousy may rise. People may also be coveting others.  This is an ungodly jealousy.

Ex 34 and 20:5 shows God's intense passion for His people and His covenant.

Another name for God - JEALOUS!!!

Isaiah 9:6 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 - Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

In this scripture Jesus is referred to as Father.  Name shall be called the Everlasting Father. They are one - the Trinity.

Isaiah 57 - 10Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

11And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?

12I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.

13When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;

14And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.

God inhabits eternity! He is holy!  He is jealous for His people. He wants our intimacy, our love, attention and trust. He wants to be first in our lives.
